So You Want To Make Your Own Beat?
You want to make your own beat right, of course you do – you listen to rap and hip hop music every day. It’s your passion and you would love to start making your own tracks – but the question is where do you start?
I’m going to save you a lot of time – you need a hip hop beat maker!
Don’t even think about hardware though, unless you have a very rich and generous uncle who is willing to lend you a good few thousand dollars for a studio in your home.
I wouldn’t waste my time with expensive software either, I mean they’re great for people who have training in the music production industry but to be honest they are far too complicated for you amateur producer (at least that’s what I’ve found).
Also, avoid online beat makers at all cost! You won’t manage to produce anything of real quality sound as the samples are .mp3 files and are usually limited in number. You may not see the issue with .mp3s as many people listen to them on their ipods but I guarantee you all of the professional tracks you hear will have high quality samples at the core and it’s the mastered tracks which are eventually compressed.
So, how do you make your own beat?
Well, I managed to find a really cool hip hop beat maker which was so easy to use my first tune was finished in under ten minutes and best of all it sounded great!
Seriously if you have a passion for hip hop or rap music then you can make amazing tracks with this piece of kit – even my girlfriend can do it and she has trouble working a calculator!!!
Everyone has to start somewhere and with the amount of digital labels growing all the time there’s never been a better time to break into the music industry.
